2026 GNSI-NE 6th annual themed exhibit

There’s No Place Like Home!

The Wonder of Animal Dwellings

Through the artwork of GNSI-NE, this exhibition will explore animal homes with the goal of helping audiences understand and appreciate the wonders of the who, what, when, where, and why of animal dwellings. A home is important to all creatures, not just humans. Animals build or find a home to stay safe, raise their young, and protect themselves from weather and predators. Their homes come in many different forms depending on the animal’s needs and environment. Birds build nests to lay eggs and keep them safe. Woodchucks dig burrows underground where they can hide from predators and stay warm. Beavers build lodges and dams on rivers to create safe water habitats. Some insects are eusocial, like bees living together in hives or ants building complex tunnels underground. Animal homes are especially suited to help them survive and thrive in their unique environments.

Our exhibit will be on public display from Thursday, September 10, 2026, to Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Silpe Gallery located in the Hartford Art School, University of Hartford.
