Curiosity 2024 Members Themed Art Exhibit Reception

The reception for the 2024 themed art exhibit Curiosity: Illustrating the Wonders of Nature & Science at the Great Ponds Gallery in the Lakeville Public Library was a success. We tried something new this year and included a presentation by special guest speaker Matt Patterson, an accomplished wildlife illustrator, during our exhibit reception. The Lakeville Public Library promoted our speaker engagement on their website and in their monthly newsletter, which helped attract attendees to the exhibit reception. Matt’s well-rounded presentation started with some biographical material that focused on how his career as a wildlife illustrator started. It then expanded to include various projects he has worked on and even delved into his illustration process from observing his subjects in their natural habitats to his meticulous application of layers of washes to capture incredible lifelike details. The passion for his work is evident, and I hope it inspires other artists to pursue the things that excite and inspire them. Matt also brought several of his original works which were available for viewing during the reception.
Thank you to Mark Lefkowitz and Tricia Cassady, my fellow co-chairs who worked with me to make this reception a success. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to bring refreshments, help set up, and clean up after the reception. I also want to thank Carol Schwartz and Susan Brand for volunteering to hold watercolor demonstrations during the reception. Everyone working together makes events like this possible.
